Gina needed another head shot, but more casual this time, so we tried to find a good spot with an interesting background, indoors so that we wouldn’t freeze as we were doing it. So on Saturday morning we headed to the Mass Mutual tower in downtown Springfield. As we were shooting with a brick wall as a background, the security people showed up and said that we can’t shoot any kind of photographs inside the building. What a shame, lots of interesting backgrounds and great light.
While we were there we met some friends of Gina’s at every turn; she knows everybody! There is a gallery of African art where a friend of Gina’s works. It was great to see all of the beautiful objects that have been collected to represent different areas in Africa. There is one wall dedicated to four of Gina’s paintings of African women. How often do you get to stand and admire paintings in a gallery with the artist standing next to you? It was great.

As we thought of other public buildings we decided to back to Gina’s house. We opened curtains and checked from room to room in her adorable, colorful home. We met a couple of her cats and were able to admire many of her paintings, including the fireplace brick area that has been refinished by whom else but Gina! Quite a treat!
We found interesting lighting and backgrounds in her dining room and a corner of her spare bedroom that worked perfectly and provided the images below.
