  • Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for visiting. I'm a Western Massachusetts based wedding and portrait photographer. I am available for on location senior and family portraits and would love to take your picture.

I've just finished recreating my web site and turning it into a "blog site." There will be portfolio pages added for each type of photography that I offer so that you can easily see everything instead of searching through the entire blog.

Please browse through my blog and add it to your bookmarks. I'll keep you posted about things that are happening in my business and photography.

George and Sarah have set a date!

I’m so excited about George and Sarah’s wedding.  They’ll be the first child in each of their families to marry.  They are hoping to be able to have the wedding at a family home near our home in Monson.  We photographed a wedding there two years ago.  It’s a beautiful country setting with country landscaping, beautiful mountain views, a small pound, and of course background every where you turn!  Can’t wait for the decision to be made.  Of course Sarah and I have been talking about dresses and colors, etc.  So much to plan, so little time… but, we really do have plenty of time.

Of course, so that I can enjoy being the mother of the groom, we’ll have another photographer shooting the wedding.  I have a very good friend who is also a wedding photographer and I know she’ll love to do it; we just need to get together to discuss it.  I’ll sneak my camera in with me so that I can get some of the bride and groom also.  Maybe Sarah will be interested in a “Trash the Dress” session!

We’ll keep you posted!  Oh, the date so far, is August 14, 2010.  A date to look forward to!

More casual head shots of Gina

Gina needed another head shot, but more casual this time, so we tried to find a good spot with an interesting background, indoors so that we wouldn’t freeze as we were doing it. So on Saturday morning we headed to the Mass Mutual tower in downtown Springfield. As we were shooting with a brick wall as a background, the security people showed up and said that we can’t shoot any kind of photographs inside the building. What a shame, lots of interesting backgrounds and great light.

While we were there we met some friends of Gina’s at every turn; she knows everybody! There is a gallery of African art where a friend of Gina’s works. It was great to see all of the beautiful objects that have been collected to represent different areas in Africa. There is one wall dedicated to four of Gina’s paintings of African women. How often do you get to stand and admire paintings in a gallery with the artist standing next to you? It was great.

As we thought of other public buildings we decided to back to Gina’s house. We opened curtains and checked from room to room in her adorable, colorful home. We met a couple of her cats and were able to admire many of her paintings, including the fireplace brick area that has been refinished by whom else but Gina! Quite a treat!

We found interesting lighting and backgrounds in her dining room and a corner of her spare bedroom that worked perfectly and provided the images below.

Reba in the snow

During the little snow storm the other day, I took some pictures of Reba. She was mostly dirty except for her face! She had been rolling in what mud she could find before it snowed.

She looks good in black and white!

Gina’s head shot

Gina Beaver’s, a very talented artist contacted me for a head shot. She is headed to NYC to see where it takes her! Maybe as an extra on Law and Order SVU, her favorite television show. Gina painted a portrait of my three children a few years ago. I’ve included it in this post so you can see how beautiful her work is and how she portrayed my children. This is proudly displayed in above the fireplace in the living room.

Wish Gina luck in her new endeavor!

Matthias and Alex

My son, Matthias, and his girlfriend Alex were home for a few days also. I set up the studio lights in the living from since it was so cold outside and we had a blasts getting some pictures for them. Another handsome couple! Alex captured Matthias playing with the cat; what a great shot!
